چکیده

INTRODUCTION Umbilical surgeries are frequent in cattle. The most frequent condition is the umbilical hernia. With an increase in the number of calves born through in vitro fertilization, pathologies involving the embryonic internal structures are more frequent. This presentation will review the principles of hernia repair and will discuss challenging umbilical surgeries. First, the use of the ultrasound in the pre-operative period will be discussed. Second, anesthesia of those calves will be discussed in regards to their size and the length and difficulty of the procedure. Finally, the surgery and its post-operative management will be discussed.
